What is the Gospel?

What would you say if someone asked you “What is the gospel?” It is amazing how vague and confused the answers can be when we have asked this question to people who claim to be believers. Many Christians can hardly answer the question, and are shocked when we bring up what we consider to be essential points of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Is the gosple a story, a myth, a journey? Is it four books of the Bible, a music genre, a tract? Is it a life? Is it something you have to obey? What is the gospel leading us to do? Is it simply admitting you are a sinner and believing Jesus died for your sins, or is there more to it? What does the gospel produce?

Many have thought they believed the gospel, only to find themselves frustrated, dissatisfied and disillusioned. This is due to a lack of understanding of what the true and full message of the gospel really is.

The good news is being spoken and lived out every day by people who live together in peace and harmony, giving themselves to the process of purification from selfishness and sin to live a life that is holy – wholly – that is, dedicated to the service of God and their fellow-man!
